Recently, the provincial Department of Housing and Urban-Rural Development announced the winner list of the "Jiangsu Human Settlement Environment Example Award in 2021", and under the guidance of the New District Construction and Transportation Bureau, the Yangtze River Bank wetland protection and enhancement project of Jiangbei New District successfully made the list.

The first phase of the Yangtze River Bank Wetland Protection and environmental Improvement Project in Jiangbei New Area covers Dingshan Street - Zhujiashan River, and is implemented by Jiangbei New Area Public Construction Center. The project is about 5.6 kilometers long, including Yangtze River bank safety restoration project, environmental and ecological protection project and environmental and ecological improvement project. By demolishing some old buildings, docks, houses and other facilities along the line, It has solved the problem that the Yangtze River bank is not connected for many years. The project started construction in November 2019 and will be completed and opened to the public in May 2021. The project construction puts ecological protection and green development in the first place, people-oriented, with "Yangtze River protection" as the core, landscape environment improvement as the starting point, ecological security, shoreline protection, ecological restoration as the strategy, and vigorously improve the ecological environment along the river in Jiangbei New Area.

The project responds to the top-level design of the "Great Protection of the Yangtze River", takes protection as the background, restructures the "riverside, near the river and see the river" landscape corridor, integrates leisure functions, promotes industrial renewal, carries forward regional culture, and highlights the sense of belonging and pride in the development of the new district. The construction goal is to build Jiangbei Riverside into the world's most beautiful urban riverside ecological waterfront, and realize the beautiful vision of "the most beautiful waterfront, the nearest future". The construction of this project is in line with the main goals of the construction of "beautiful and livable city" in Jiangsu Province, that is, emphasizing respect for nature and adapting to nature, defining urban development boundaries with "mountains, rivers, forests, fields, lakes and grasses" as the base, and organically connecting urban public space with garden green space system, truly integrating nature into the city and letting people see the water.
